If you’re a regular follower of our blog, you’ll know that on February 13th we held a benefit dinner dance to help the Ottawa Hospital Breast Health Centre. Our goal was to raise $10,000 for a new biopsy chair to aid in the early detection of cancer cells. As you probably know, the earlier cancer cells are detected, the better the chance of survival.
We’re pleased to report that thanks to people like you, we have surpassed our original goal! The final total is $17,251 – including your donations and the proceeds from the Valentine’s Dinner Dance at St Anthony’s Banquet Hall. The extra money will be used for other equipment that the Ottawa Hospital Breast Health Centre needs. Like all hospitals, they always need money to help improve equipment and facilities.
Of course, money is still needed to fight all forms of cancer.

St Valentino Dinner Dance Head Shaving Ceremony
Not only did we eat, drink and dance the night away, the big moment of the evening was the head shaving ceremony. Myself (Giuseppe) and Frank, Ken and Enzo all pledged to shave our heads to earn your generous donations. We are part of a group of friends called the Sons of Carpineto Romano who try to give back to the community as often as possible. You can learn more about the Sons of Carpineto Romano on our blog post announcing the event.
So here’s what you’ve been waiting for – the photos of us being shaved!

On behalf of the Hospital, Enzo, Frank, Ken and myself I would like to thank everyone who donated and everyone who helped make the evening such a huge success. I would also like to thank St Anthony’s for providing us with a wonderful venue for our special evening.
If you missed the event but still want to help the Hospital, you can find their donation site here.
