For the fifth year in a row, Laurysen Kitchens generously contributed to the Dream of a Lifetime Lottery in support of the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) Foundation. All the proceeds from this event directly benefit our region’s only pediatric hospital.
We were thrilled to participate and help raise funds for kids and youth right here in Ottawa. It certainly wasn’t easy, though. COVID-19, once again, snuck in to disrupt plans and delay construction. Materials were tough to come by, considering supply chain issues, but we persevered!
Our designers teamed up with Minto Homes and Tanya Collins Design to bring the beautiful 4,600 square foot bungalow (with loft space) to life.
The unique Arts and Crafts style home, located in Mahogany, Manotick, is called the “Caraway.” It is a 100% Net Zero Energy Home, making it fully sustainable. The interiors are mid-century modern with a Scandinavian design influence.
Laurysen’s team was led by CKBD designer Wael Bakr, who shares two Greater Ottawa Home Builders’ Association (GOHBA) design awards with Tanya Collins Design and Minto Homes for their collaborative work on the 2020 CHEO Dream home.
This year, we provided custom millwork, cabinetry, and walk-in closets throughout the 3-bedroom, 4-bathroom home and helped design many rooms, including the Kitchen, Walk-in-Pantry, Powder Room, Ensuite, Main Bathroom, Basement Bathroom, Master Bedroom Walk-in-Closet, Laundry, and the Home Office design.
Wael was thrilled to work with the CHEO Dream Home Design Team again this year. “Working with Tanya and Minto Communities is always such a pleasure because we challenge each other in the best ways. By bringing our ideas, technical knowledge and resources together, the Caraway home is an exquisitely well-designed space that not only looks stunning but is highly functional as well.”
Minto Communities’ Karen van der Velden is also thrilled with the results and describes the kitchen as “spectacular” and “loaded with cabinets that reach a beautiful, rustic wood ceiling.”
You can take a virtual walk through the 2021 Dream Home and zoom in to view all the fabulous design details in 3D or visit the gallery to discover the innovative yet elegant space.
The home itself is only one part of the grand prize valued at $3.1 million. The entire package also includes a new car, groceries and house cleaning for a year, moving and legal services, plus $100,000 in cash. We hope you’ll join us by supporting this extremely important fundraising event that supports patient care and research at CHEO.
