Searching for an idea to liven up your décor on the spookiest night of all? Here’s our roundup of some of the best ideas we’ve seen on the net.
1. Make an Entrance
Mix painted pumpkins, jack o’ lanterns, and bare-bones grapevine wreath for a mixture of scary and warmly inviting. Image above: Good Housekeeping.
2. Pumpkin Topiaries
Speaking of entryways, painted pumpkin topiaries are everywhere. We found this one on Pinterest. They can be real pumpkins or fake, painted or carved and lit. To stack them safely, use an old dowel run through the stack to keep them upright.
3. Glow in the Dark
Lots of glowing costumes, potions and decorations are cropping up all over the internet. We found these mysterious pods on the DIY Network.
4. No-Carve Pumpkins
Painted, lace-covered, tack-patterned and covered with sparkles, painted pumpkins are everywhere. There are still lots of metallics, but flat colours that complement your personal style are popular too. We found tutorials for the lovelies shown above here. There’s a wonderful gallery of ideas on Martha Stewart’s site, and some pumpkin painting ideas that are as beautiful as they are creepy, like this one:
5. Pumpkin Dioramas
We’re also seeing a lot of pumpkin dioramas all over the net. We found this one at Country Living.
6. Go Batty
Swarms of bats are appearing on walls and stairwells everywhere, from expensive pre-made vinyl decals to DIY construction paper cutouts. This creative version on HGTV turns a garage door into a Halloween scene.
7. Spooky Buffet Table
Going all-out on your buffet display can be loads of fun. Good Housekeeping inspired us with this version. Need something more elegant? Elle Decor has tons of grown up and incredibly chic ideas.
8. Apothecary Bottles
Apothecary bottles and spooky labels to add to them are all over Etsy! You can also find great ones on EBay too.
You can use them just for display or to hold ingredients for drinks at parties – but ensure kids can’t mistake their non-alcoholic options for the elixirs you’re serving grown-up ghouls. Young or old, who doesn’t love pouring a drink that smokes into a glass?
9. And Finally…Dress Up Healthy Food Too
Pinterest has been full of Healthy options dressed up trick-or-treat style.
