May 6th was a big night for Laurysen! Our design team was repeatedly acknowledged and celebrated at the 13th Annual Design Excellence Awards, and we are deeply honoured that Laurysen Kitchens also received the prestigious Doris Lacroix Award. It all happened at the “Black and White Gala” hosted by the Ottawa Chapter of the National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA) at the National Arts Centre.
Corey Laurysen, Vice President of Sales and Service, reacted to the 2023 NKBA Awards, stating, “We are absolutely delighted to see three of our talented designers earn these esteemed awards. This remarkable achievement is a testament to their exceptional creativity and expertise.”
He also added, “Laurysen is extremely grateful to receive the Doris Lacroix Award. This recognition reflects our entire team’s dedication to driving innovation and excellence within Ottawa’s kitchen and bath industry.”
In 2014, Laurysen’s Caroline Castrucci won the award, and it’s thrilling to be recognized again. This marks the first time a company (vs. an individual) has received this distinguished honour! The award pays tribute to Doris Lacroix, a visionary pioneer in the field of kitchen design within Ottawa. It is bestowed annually to an individual or company that demonstrates exceptional accomplishments and enduring contributions to the Ottawa NKBA Chapter and the kitchen and bath industry.

Ola Elmaghraby was awarded first place for this stunning classic kitchen, showcasing a spacious and versatile island. In a deep, rich navy hue, the island creates a striking contrast against the pristine backdrop of white shaker-style cabinetry, herringbone backsplash tiles and quartz countertops. The inclusion of a custom hood fan and gold-toned lights and hardware infuses this timeless design with warmth and an air of elegance.

1st Place: Look for Less Kitchen
Rachel Price brought home a first-place award for her remarkable design that was achieved on a budget! White subway tiles and light upper cabinets effortlessly brighten the room, while the lower cabinetry, crafted with durable textured melamine in a warm brown wood grain finish, adds visual contrast and infuses the space with a sense of natural beauty. To create an airy ambiance, she opted for an open shelf above the sink as well as a sleek, modern microwave strategically mounted above the range, freeing up valuable countertop space.
